What is a Device Limit?

The device restriction for docu tools allows simultaneous access to the app on two mobile devices. This way, you can have the docu tools app installed on both your tablet and your smartphone, or alternatively use two tablets or two smartphones.

Which Mobile Devices are Affected by the Device Limit?

Device limits apply to the following devices:

  • iPhones, iPads

  • Android smartphones and tablets

How are Mobile Devices Counted?

Each device on which a user is Logged in to docu tools counts as one device towards the device limit. If a user has multiple devices of the same type, each counts as a separate device. Therefore, if a user Logs in with the docu tools Account on two different iPhones, this is considered as being Logged in on two devices.

Where Can I See How Many and Which Devices are Linked to an Account?

All devices linked to an Account can be seen under the Devices section in the User settings of the user.

How is a Device Registered?

When you first Log in to the app on a mobile device, the device is automatically registered in the User settings.

How is a Device Deactivated or Removed from the User Account?

If a device is to be replaced, the device to be replaced must first be Deactivated in the User settings of the web application. When Logging in with the new device, it is automatically registered.

NOTE: Logging in on the replaced device is no longer possible once it has been Deactivated. Please synchronize all data before you Deactivate the app on the device to be Removed.

Can Data Loss Occur When a Device is Removed from an Account?

Removing a device from your Account does not lead to data loss. The synchronized data remains intact, and the app automatically logs out. Locally stored data is also retained.

Why am I Informed About the Device Limit Even Though docu tools is Only Used on Two Devices?

It is possible that your User Account is still linked to another device that you no longer use. Check in your User settings under "Devices" which mobile devices are linked to your Account.

docu tools was Uninstalled and Reinstalled on the Device. Why is There a Notice About the Device Limit and How is the Issue Resolved?

The device may have been considered as a new device upon reinstallation of docu tools. Remove the "old" device in your User settings under "Devices". Then you can Log in again and the device will be recognized as new.
