Working Offline with the docu tools App

Updated this week

In situations where a stable internet connection is not available, you can Download projects in advance and work offline on-site. Please follow the guidelines provided to ensure smooth synchronization.

Ensure that you always have the latest app Version installed on your mobile devices. Older Versions can cause errors and obstruct your work.

1. Quality of the Internet Connection

The speed and efficiency of Downloading and uploading data directly depend on the quality of your internet connection. To ensure a smooth and trouble-free Download, you should only synchronize your projects when you have a stable internet connection. Attempting synchronization with a poor connection can lead to data loss or other issues that hinder your work progress.

2. Ensure Sufficient Free Storage Space on the Device

For optimal performance in offline mode, the docu tools app requires sufficient storage space. We recommend using devices with at least 128 GB of internal storage. Please note that other data, such as Files from other apps and photos, may already occupy space on your device. Make sure you have enough storage space available to effectively use docu tools. For more information, see our System Requirements.

3. Be Patient with Downloads

Downloading projects to your device can take some time, depending on factors such as project size, internet quality, and device capacity. Be patient and do not close the app during the Download process, as this can lead to errors and incomplete data transfers. For particularly large projects, you can let the Download run overnight while you are not using the device.

4. Keep the App Open During Synchronization

During the synchronization process, it is important to keep the app open on your device. This helps avoid errors and ensures a smooth and consistent data upload.

Again, if you Download larger projects overnight, it cannot happen that you accidentally close the app.

5. Work Completely Offline

Once you have Downloaded the necessary projects or plans, we recommend working completely offline whenever possible. At locations with limited internet connection or on devices with 3G internet, we recommend turning on airplane mode. This way, you are not reliant on constant internet access and can avoid unexpected data losses or errors.

6. Synchronize Before You Work Offline

Before switching to offline mode, always synchronize your projects with a stable internet connection. This step ensures that you have the latest and most current data available.

Step-by-step instructions for Downloading and managing offline data can be found here.

7. Synchronize as Soon as You Have a Stable Internet Connection Again

Make it a habit to synchronize all offline data immediately once you have a stable internet connection again. This makes your data available to all other project members and avoids errors. Additionally, more frequent synchronizations with smaller amounts of data do not block your device when you actually need it for something else.
