Using Custom Fields in Pins

Requirements

Required project role:

  • to create fields: Admin

  • to fill in fields: Admin, Assistant, External Viewer

Step-by-Step Instructions

Create Custom Fields

  1. Open the project settings of the desired project.

  2. Click on the Pin Designs tab.

  3. Create a new field with + New Field.

  4. Select the desired field type: – Text FieldNumber FieldDate FieldTime FieldSlider

  5. Enter a Field Title.

  6. Assign the field to one or more Pin Categories.

  7. Optional: Deactivate the field using the icon in the top right corner.

  8. Optional: Use the displayed Placeholder for reports.

  9. Review the field preview at the bottom of the configuration window.

  10. Click Save to apply your changes.

Sort Fields

– Drag & drop the fields into the desired order.– This order is reflected in the pin view.

Use Fields in a Pin

  1. Open a pin.

  2. In the FIELDS section, the assigned fields will be shown depending on the selected pin category.

  3. Enter the desired values.

Filter by Fields

  1. Open the pin overview.

  2. Click on the filter icon.

  3. Select a custom field and the desired value (e.g. Priority = "medium").

  4. The view will then show only the corresponding pins.

Additional Information

Field Types Explained

  • Number Field: Ideal for dimensions, costs, or percentages. Three formats available: standard, currency, percentage. Options include suffix, decimals, step size, etc. Field types can be used multiple times per project.

  • Text Field: Free text entry with a character limit (75 to 600 characters).

  • Date Field: Date selection with optional display of weekday and time.

  • Time Field: Time entry without additional settings, format hh:mm (e.g. 08:15).

  • Slider: Predefined options such as Yes/No, priority, types. Each level can be labeled individually.

Special Features

  • Field filter in the settings area: Display only fields of certain categories.

  • Placeholders for reports: Easily copied into templates, e.g. #{{pf-pflanzgefäß-title-value}}.

  • Tag field: Always active, can only be used once per project.
