Using Custom Fields in Pins

Prerequisite

Required Role in the Project:

  • to create the fields: Admin

  • to fill the fields: Admin, Contributor, External viewer

Step-by-Step Guide

Setting Up Custom Fields

  1. Open the project settings of the desired Project.

  2. Click on the Pin Designs tab.

  3. Create a new Field with + New Field.

  4. Choose the desired Field type: - Text Field - Number Field - Date Field - Time Field - Slider

  5. Assign a Field title.

  6. Assign the Field to one or more Pin categories.

  7. Optional: Deactivate the Field using the icon at the top right.

  8. Optional: Use the displayed Placeholder for reports.

  9. Check the Field preview at the bottom of the form.

  10. Save your changes by Clicking on Save.

Sorting Fields

  • Drag Fields into the desired order using Drag & Drop.– This order will also be adopted in the Pin.

Using Fields in a Pin

  1. Open a Pin.

  2. In the FIELDS section – depending on the Pin category – the assigned Fields are displayed.

  3. Enter the desired values.

Filtering Fields

  1. Open the Pin overview.

  2. Click on the Filter icon.

  3. Select a custom Field and the desired value (e.g., Priority = "medium").

  4. The view now only shows the corresponding Pins.

Additional Notes

Field Types in Detail

  • Number Field: ideal for dimensions, costs, percentages. Three formats are available: Default, Currency, Percent. Each with suffix, decimal places, step size, etc. Field types can be used multiple times per Project.

  • Text Field: Free text with a limited number of characters (75 to 600 characters).

  • Date Field: Date with optional display of weekday and time.

  • Time Field: Time entry without further settings in the format hh:mm (e.g., 08:15).

  • Slider: Selection of predefined options (e.g., Yes/No, Priority, Types). Steps freely labelable.

Special Features

  • Filter for Fields in the settings area: Shows only Fields of certain Categories.

  • Placeholder for reports: Easily copyable for templates, e.g., #{{pf-pflanzgefäß-title-value}}.

  • Keywords Field: Always active, can only be used once.
