Linking Datasets with a Pin

Updated yesterday

To be able to link a Dataset with a Pin, you must first have imported a Dataset.

  • Open the Pin and navigate to the "Fields" section.

  • Click on Link Dataset....

Add Dataset link

  • Select the Dataset from which you want to add a value to the Pin.

  • Click on the value or use the Search to find a value from the Dataset.

  • Click on ... in the upper right corner to display the entire Dataset.

Show entire Dataset

This is particularly useful if a Dataset consists of more than two Columns (ID and Title) and you want to Search for values that are not ID or Title.

  • After selecting a value, the Dataset link will be added to the Pin.

Pin with added Dataset link

Note: If you want to Import multiple values from the same Dataset, simply repeat this process. The same applies for values from other Datasets. A Pin can have any number of values assigned from one or more Datasets.

Displaying Dataset Links

All Dataset links added to a Pin are visible in the "Fields" section of the Pin detail card.

If you Click directly on a value, docu tools will automatically show you the detail view of the ID and Title of the value as well as all other information associated with this value in the Dataset. If you want to see all the data of the Dataset, Click on ... in the detail view and choose Show entire Dataset.

Removing an added Dataset link

  • To Remove a linked Dataset from a Pin, Click on the Dataset value to open the detail view.

  • Open the menu by Clicking on the ... icon in the upper right corner.

  • Select Remove from Pin.

  • No confirmation window will appear; the Dataset will be Removed from the Pin and you will return to the Pin view.

Bulk Edit of Dataset Links added to Pins

It is possible to add, Edit, and Remove Dataset links in multiple Pins by using the bulk Edit options in the Pin list. This is particularly helpful if you have added the Dataset file after creating the Pins or if multiple Pins are to be linked with the same value of a Dataset link.

  • Go to the Pin list.

  • Select the required Pins using the checkboxes.

  • Click on Edit in the menu (the pencil icon right above the List).

Edit Pin list

  • In the "Edit Dataset Link" section, there are 2 options: Edit Dataset Links and Add Dataset Links.

  • Select the Dataset and the link you want to add or Remove.

  • It is possible to add or Remove multiple Dataset links at once by adding additional Rows in each section.

  • Click on Confirm to update all selected Pins.
